8000 lb Trailer Axle Kit – 2 Electric Brake Axles, Springs & U-Bolts – 16K Capacity Capacity

Product Description

Build or upgrade your heavy-duty tandem-axle trailer with a robust axle and suspension package designed for demanding hauling applications.

The 8000 lb Tandem Trailer Axle Kit includes two 8,000 lb electric brake axles, providing a combined axle rating of up to 16,000 lbs. Both axles are equipped with electric drum brake assemblies, providing braking capability at all four wheel positions when properly connected to a compatible trailer brake controller and electrical system.

The kit also includes four heavy-duty 6-leaf slipper springs and two U-bolt kits, providing the primary axle and suspension components for compatible tandem-axle trailer installations.

Heavy-duty steel axle construction, greaseable spindle components, internal brake wiring, and an underslung spring-seat configuration make this kit well suited for dump trailers, equipment trailers, gooseneck trailers, flatbeds, and other heavy-duty tandem-axle applications.

Available Hub Face / Spring Center Sizes

Choose the correct axle dimensions for your trailer before ordering.

Hub Face Spring Center
95" 80"
97" 80"

Hub Face

Hub Face is the distance between the two wheel-mounting surfaces of the axle.

Spring Center

Spring Center is the distance between the centerlines of the two spring seats.

Always measure your existing axle or trailer carefully before selecting a size.

Dual Electric Brake Axle Configuration

This tandem axle kit includes:

2 × 8,000 lb Electric Brake Axles

Both axles are equipped with electric drum brakes.

When properly connected to a compatible brake controller and trailer electrical system, the dual-brake configuration provides braking capability at all four wheel positions.

This makes the kit suitable for demanding heavy-duty trailer applications where increased load support and braking capability are required.

16,000 lb Combined Axle Rating

Each axle is rated for:

8,000 lbs

Two 8K axles provide a combined axle rating of up to:

16,000 lbs

Actual trailer capacity depends on the complete trailer configuration and the rating of the lowest-capacity component, including:

  • Trailer Frame

  • Suspension

  • Leaf Springs

  • Wheels

  • Tires

  • Coupler

  • Braking System

  • Other Installed Components

The axle rating alone does not determine the GVWR of the complete trailer.

6-Leaf Slipper Springs

The kit includes:

4 × Heavy-Duty 6-Leaf Slipper Springs

The slipper-style spring design is commonly used in higher-capacity trailer suspension systems.

Compared with lighter-duty spring configurations, the 6-leaf construction is designed for demanding applications requiring increased durability and load support.

Greaseable Spindle Design

The axle assemblies feature greaseable spindle components for convenient routine bearing lubrication and maintenance.

Accessible grease fittings help simplify regular wheel-bearing service and make routine axle maintenance easier.

Regular bearing inspection and lubrication are recommended as part of normal trailer maintenance.

Internal Brake Wiring

Brake wiring is routed inside the axle tube for a cleaner and more protected installation.

Internal wiring helps protect the electrical wiring from:

  • Road Debris

  • Abrasion

  • External Wear

  • Accidental Damage

This configuration also provides a cleaner electrical installation between the brake assemblies.

Underslung Spring Configuration

The spring seats are positioned below the axle tube.

This is known as an underslung spring configuration.

Mounting the springs below the axle can help maintain a lower trailer deck and ride height compared with overslung configurations where the springs are positioned above the axle.

Applications

Suitable for many compatible heavy-duty tandem-axle trailers, including:

  • Dump Trailers

  • Equipment Trailers

  • Flatbed Trailers

  • Heavy-Duty Car Haulers

  • Gooseneck Trailers

  • Livestock Trailers

  • Enclosed Trailers

  • Lowboy Trailers

  • Heavy-Duty Utility Trailers

  • Other Compatible Tandem-Axle Trailer Applications
